My review of Avengers Twilight (2024) From: Marvel Comics!

 

This is my second reread of this amazing book but I never reviewed this so let's get into it.

This book not only hits the checkpoints you'd expected it to hit it surpasses your expectations. The art inside by Daniel Acuna is amazing. This is Marvel's equivalent of DC's Kingdom come, they even get the legendary Alex Ross to draw the cover art of the individual six issues. Just because it's a comparable story to Kingdom come does not mean it rips it off.

This was the first story I read by the legendary (IMO) Chip Z'darsky. This showed me he can write amazingly well and paired with a good artist nothing is impossible for Chip.

The story is amazing because just like kingdom come we follow aging superheroes way past their primes. Similar to that story again for DC we follow Superman and in this story we follow Marvel's symbol Captain America. Now stripped of his position, his superpowers and even his shield. He has to fight prejudice, subjugation and government oversight / control. We see many characters return in old forms such as Matt Murdock, Luke Cage and many more.

This story isn't a must-have. It's a you will have, it's such an amazing journey from start to finish and the villain is a common villain but he had a diabolical plan.

All in all I give this a 10 out of 10 Captain America shields
